EUROCINEMA HAWAII returned last night with a packed house at Consolidated's Kahala Theater for the Honolulu premiere of BLACK SOULS, director Francesco Munzi's award-winning crime drama about a family in Italy's Calabria. In keeping with ECH's mission of sharing the culture of Europe with the people of Hawaii through film, Italy's Honorary Consul, Dr. Michele Carbone, set the context for the stunningly photographed film with a fascinating discussion about the history of the cycle of violence in Calabria and his own youth growing up in the same part of Italy. EuroCinema Hawaii President Patrick Gey welcomed the socially notable crowd, including Princesses Kapiolani Marignoli Kawananakoa and Liz Kawananakoa, Governor Neil Abercrombie and Dr. Nancy Caraway, Nora Meijide-Gentry Condesa , Luxury Row's Laurie Akau, Carmen Di Amore-Siah. Professor Guido Carlo Pigliasco new Festival Director Brent Anbe and Macy's Design Director Gerald Cruz.
